Tars Vandebeek is a freelance dancer, choreographer and director.
At a young age he was part of the Kopergietery Gent, Belgium where he had the opportunity to perform and tour with several theatre and dance theatre productions from Eva Bal, Ives Thuwis and Gregory Caers. He studied at the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp. In 2011 he won the gold medal and the Biarritz City Award at the international competition for contemporary dance in Biarritz.
He danced with Cannes Jeune Ballet (France) , with Gauthier Dance in (Stuttgart, Germany) and from 2013 to 2018 as a soloist with Ballett Zürich in Switzerland. In 2014, TANZ magazine featured him for his performance as Lewin in Christian Spuck's Anna karenina. He has performed on stages around the world and worked with top choreographers such as, Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, Hans Van Manen, Crystal Pite, Lightfoot&Leon, Ohad naharin, Marco Goecke, among others....
2018-2019 he worked as a freelance dancer and performed as a guest with the Hong Kong Ballet. In June 2019, Tars joined the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company under the direction of Jacopo Godani, where he danced until August 2022. He then co founded a Belgian based collective creating own performances and dance films. Tars is currently working independently as a freelance artist both creating and performing.
